Search for any Yolia concept and open its exact file. The Library is independent of Sandbox, Labs and dashboards: those surfaces only link here.

The Library explains physiology, biology, chemistry, modules, combinations, stages, preparation, reasoning, evidence and limits. Private details of formulas, quantities, dosages, internal weights or authorizations remain subject to the actual delivery gates.

This Library is updated continuously. The underlying content is already complete on every entry; we keep polishing the writing, entry by entry, so it reads clearer and more precise over time.

FULL PROFILE

The 17 points of this module

Each section opens separately — tap the title to expand it.

1. Code, name, species

RAF-02 — Bicarbonate Antifungal. Rosa spp. This module belongs to the Rose Catalog family, within the Defense functional class, and is prepared as an infusion within Yolia's complete catalog of documented safe modules for the species in this system.

2. Application method

Foliar spray (direct contact). This method was chosen because it distributes the input gradually toward the zone where the plant can absorb it, consistent with the rest of the Rose Catalog family's modules documented in this catalog.

3. What the real problem/need is

Powdery mildew (caused by several fungi of the genus *Podosphaera* and related genera) looks very different from black spot: it appears as a **grayish-white powder** on the surface of leaves, young stems, and even flower buds — it looks like someone dusted flour on the plant.

4. Exact function

Alter the foliar surface pH to create an environment hostile to this specific fungus's germination — a mechanism distinct from [RAF-01]. This specific function is what Yolia's engine evaluates when considering whether module RAF-02 is relevant for a case within the family.

5. Chemistry

Baking soda, when dissolved in water, raises the leaf surface's pH to an alkaline range (above 8) that most fungi, including the one that causes powdery mildew, do not tolerate well for germination. The apple cider vinegar in the mix helps the solution adhere better.

6. Preparation method

Fast [Infusion] — the baking soda dissolves directly in water, it does not require extraction from a plant material. As an infusion, this preparation process is what determines the final availability of the active compounds before being applied within the Rose Catalog family's program.

7. Mechanism

Contact barrier through surface pH alteration — just like RAF-01, it acts BEFORE the spore manages to establish itself, it doesn't cure an already-present infection. This is the mechanism Yolia's engine documents when evaluating module RAF-02's actual function within the Defense functional class.

8. Stage of use

Preventive, especially in climates with high ambient humidity but little direct rain (exactly the scenario where RAF-01 would be less necessary, but this one is). This stage was chosen because it's when the plant can best make use of this specific input.

9. Frequency

Every 7-10 days; it degrades faster from solar UV than from rain washing. This frequency aims to sustain the effect without saturating the plant, taking into account the stability and preparation method specific to this infusion module within the Rose Catalog family.

10. Stability

Dissolved bicarbonate is stable for longer than volatile compounds — up to 3-5 days once prepared, though prompt use is recommended. This stability time reflects how long the preparation retains its activity before losing effectiveness, being relevant for planning its application frequency.

11. Concentration

Low — excess bicarbonate can be phytotoxic. This concentration level is adjusted according to the sensitivity of the stage of use and the specific function of this module within the Defense functional class of Yolia's complete catalog. Documented within the complete catalog of modules.

12. How the engine processes it

Capacidad `defensa_biologica`.

13. Compatibility

Do not mix on the same day with acidic foliar-application modules (could neutralize the intended alkaline effect). This compatibility is checked within the Compatibility Engine before including this module together with other elements of the Rose Catalog family in the same formula generated.

14. What to expect

Absence of white powder on new leaf/shoot during the weeks of preventive application. This expected signal helps verify whether module RAF-02 is working as documented within the Defense functional class of Yolia's complete catalog of safe modules.

15. If misused

Excess bicarbonate can burn the leaf and alter the substrate's pH if it repeatedly runs off into the soil. This is the risk the Risk Engine considers before approving a higher concentration or frequency for this infusion module within the Rose Catalog family of the complete catalog.

16. Special precaution

None critical for rose bush. This precaution is part of the safety documentation for this RAF-02 module, reviewed within Yolia's complete catalog of documented safe modules for cultivation. Consulted by the engine when building a formula for the case.

17. Related to

[RAF-01] Garlic-Cinnamon Antifungal (different mechanism and fungus) — [Powdery mildew vs. Black spot: how to tell them apart] These relationships help understand how this RAF-02 module connects with other elements of the Rose Catalog family and the Defense functional class within Yolia's complete catalog.
